The Omicron virus strain has caused a new wave of COVID-19 outbreaks in Japan. The number of confirmed cases in a single day has exceeded 50,000. This wave of unprepared epidemics has caught Japan off guard, everything from self-screening detection reagents to oximeters for monitoring the condition of hospitalized patients was in urgent need.
Taiwan enterprises and the Rotary Club of Taipei City's North District have generously donated for this purpose, which was handled by the FRA, and continued the non-governmental diplomacy of donating medical supplies to Japan. Donated 50 Taiwan-made oximeters to the Shiga Prefectural Government and Oita City Government in Japan, totaling 100 oximeters. This oximeter is the same product that Xie Changting, the representative to Japan in September 2021, donated 10,000 oximeters to Japan on behalf of the government.
The Asahi Shimbun specially reported on "Donations from Taiwan, 100 friendly units" in a quarter of the page, and quoted Dr. Wang Huisheng's call for mutual assistance and cooperation between Japan and Taiwan: "Japan's problem is Taiwan's problem."
